What are a couple of Brits doing running a guest house in Austria? A common question from our guests to which we always reply - Just lucky we guess!
Many years ago we went on a ski trip to La Plagne in France and were pretty instantly addicted to skiing, together with the knowledge that the bank balance would never look good again! We skied as often as possible, we weren't good, but we loved it.
Then walking became a hobby that developed more into trekking and scrambling. Mike took his Mountain Leader course and we began "more serious" stuff. Eventually, we were winter mountaineering in Scotland, summer ice climbing in France and conquering peaks such as Mont Blanc and Mount Kenya.
Austria began to feature more and more as it offered skiing, walking and climbing. The people were very friendly and the whole country was stunningly pretty. We ended up holidaying in Austria several times a year. It was costing a fortune!
There was only one solution, move to Austria and make our hobbies our work. We bought Chalet Heidi in September 2005 and have never looked back. We love Austria, we love Scheffau and we love walking, cycling, skiing and socialising with our guests.
